Medical records

Posted December 29th, 2010.

Patient’s medical records and information kept at the surgery will not be disclosed to a third party without written or verbal consent from the patient concerned, as required under the Data Protection Act (1998). Please be aware that clinical staff, trainees and other staff members will have access to these records as required by their roles.

If you wish to view your own medical records this can be arranged: please write to your registered GP. A £10 minimum charge will be payable.

The exercise from NHS England relating to data sharing is different to this. NHS England were distributing literaure to each household in the UK from January 2014 detailing the process relating to this exercise.
